Look, if I had already tried to get people off the street, it was with these three guys.

Nevertheless, my way is not necessarily the correct way.

I sat down thinking how?

Okay, they wash cars in President Steyn and environment for an income. Now if you are in the North you should know very well, so I’m not going to bullshit anyone, we know where the money goes …

However, the plan is to market them as car washers and they will come to your house to wash your car, they have undertaken to purchase a phone by Saturday.

We advertise them by name (suggestions are welcome) and you call them to come to your house to wash your car.  They are really good !!

In doing so, they may just make enough space to rent a room, and get some human dignity back …

We are deeply hurt

Tonight our Ironman is sleeping somewhere on the street, between somewhere and nowhere, hungry, cold, forgotten, rejected, a proud man, a man who works hard for his family every day, a man let down by his country chasing after money and earthly enrichment and forget about its people ..

Hospitals who can look into your eyes and send you away with your pain into the streets, without caring.

Because you’re a hobo..a malala pipe, a rataba, boemelaar and squatter …

The spouse, the father is not spotted.  Like this your proud, your humanity is  being is trampled by a society that can only look away and not face you.

Tonight one of our street kids said the most beautiful thing for me. I’ve been looking for him for a job without success, so he decided to get a job on his own. He is doing maintenance work (permanent work), but actually has security qualifications

Tonight he thanked me but I remind him that he got the job himself.

His words:
But you believed in me …. I’m crying right now.

How do we do it?

People often ask how we do it because we do not like asking…

Here’s an example of how we do it: We actually do nothing …

The Lord is in charge, He takes care of angels like this to keep the pots full and keep us in the streets.  People donate and bring out of their own because they want to.

We are so grateful for every thing and every cent that keeps this project going, but I just have to mention that many people just join the page nowadays so they can see what is being donated, or what they can gain.

For that reason I no longer disclose any donation It was always so nice to say thank you to people on the page. Nowadays, if I thank a donor the donor receives messages for help or money or prayer – not cool,  people …

Update on Anna (from Billy)

Quick update …

Anna has a sister in Pretoria North she now lives with, we will soon visit and hear if she needs anything. (Once the car has bee fixed)

Billy’s sister who does not live in Pretoria is in charge of funeral arrangements, and it seems that everything is under control with it and does not need our help at this time.

Lady, the dog, has been with us for about six or seven months, after Anna felt she’d be better off at us than on the street and they could visit her.

Needed: A pot or two and two plate stove.

If anyone can afford a pot or two for Glen and Karen, and a two plate stove it will be great .. Glen does recycling, any steel, plate or scrap metal will be appreciated, this is his only income that he cares for him and his wife.

They no longer sleep on the street, and need some help.

So proud of these men

Andre has lifted himself out of his circumstances, he has been sleeping on the streets for a long time before he decided it’s enough and seriously started working as a car guard at Choppies, please support him.

We are happy to help them with donations because they try, they also make a plan to improve their own lives and collect their donations themselves and don’t wait for us since our car is broken down.

Ironman / Khumalo has been admitted to hospital!!!!

After more than a year’s struggle at George Makari Hospital, Khumalo was finally transferred to Steve Bhiko for treatment …

Deidre of Pretoria News got the process going, involving the necessary people, Rudzani Matshili had an interview with Khumalo, constantly following up, made calls, these two ladies did not go to sleep until Khumalo was in a bed …

We pray that he will receive the treatment and operation he has been waiting for so long.

And thank you aunt Liana that you made your transport available this evening …

peopledocare.co.za is a brand new extension of the already popular and well-supported facebook group people do care/mense gee om.

Ruth and “the Chef” does an amazing job on the streets of Pretoria North taking care of the homeless.  Everyday after work they start preparing meals for close to 200 people and then start doing their rounds at eight in the evening.  Not only do they feed these people sleeping in the streets, they also find donations in all forms to clothe them, assist them with finding jobs, organise lifts to hospitals when needed, and even educate when the need arise.

There ultimate goal is to find suitable space from where they can run a shelter offering these street people accommodation and meals they can return to after their day in the sun working as car guards, recyclers, and simply walking the streets trying to find employment.

We will share some of the stories told by Ruth and “the Chef” on this page. Some of the stories will have happy endings, some will have sad endings. Some stories will break your heart, some stories you may relate to. We wil have space where you can pledge and contribute in whichever way you wish and can afford. We also will have a section where you can look through all the details of persons in need of jobs – some may be limited to their know surroundings because of a lack of transport, other may be willing to re-locate anywhere in South Africa should employment include accommodation.
