Update on Samantha – LOOK AT THIS!

WOW !!!
If you ever wanted to see an example of people taking hands, here’s one !!

I’ve posted about Samantha who urgently needed to get into rehab, people from all over started calling around like crazy!

One day before she would be dismissed from the hospital and went back to the street, Veruschka and Hannelie prevented that.

Then there was the list of requirements, and again I do not have words, as far as the Free State donations poured in for Samantha ..

All of this would not have been possible without Veruschka’s help, the girl twisted her husband’s arm to help pick up, sort, name it and they did it, even picked Samantha at the hospital and took away …

It was a very emotional goodbye, but we’re sure it’s the right place for her ..

See list of donors (and sorry if you did not want to be called, I did not know)

Apart from allthe goodies received, we received a donation of R5000 rand, of which R4000 is donated to the rehab center, as well as the kiosk at the center so that Samantha can buy a treat…..

BREAK FREE REHAB. offered this program for Samantha for free, so I ask again if anyone can make a contribution from time to time they will be greatly appreciated so that they can help others in their position.

Purchases have been made, donations have been uploaded, and we can not thank you enough for everyone’s involvement here …

Where do you start to say thank you ??

Where do you start to say  thank you ??
So many people offered advice and assistance …
These people, however, had hope when so many people who tried to help, got tired, got tired crying, they stepped up and without applications, without any conditions, they saw the need, realized there was no other way out, realized there is no money, it’s going to come from anywhere else, they opened their doors to Samantha …

This is clearly a place where one can become human again …

I ask people today, these people deserve any donation that you want and can make for this absolute love act they give so freely to someone they do not know, and what I heard is not the first time but also they can not continue without funds, so I asked for bank details …

Thank you very much, and thanks to everyone and everyone involved in this cry of help,

Verucskha, you never gave up, even when I wanted you, you stayed on the phone, you were here, you were where there’s a need, you also are going to make sure she gets there, you’re an absolute angel.
Hannelie from dagboek van ‘n ouer, thank you for pushing so hard.

And then of course Carl & Angela from BREAK FREE ….
We do not have enough words to express our gratitude …

Thanks a million – you are superstars!

Remarkable people ….
I want to highlight this couple today, and people like Sarie Minnaar …

Nellie & Marius are young, recently married, normal working people, , like most of us but with a life ahead of them.
One will expect them to focus on themselves as most young married couples do.

But not the two, charity is the order of the day in their household …

Every time we found ourselves in a crisis, they just arrived, without planning. Usually to help distribute food, and before they went home they took one or two of our people with them.

For Uncle Naas, they gave housing before he left for his daughter, for Oom Koen and Tannie Driekie they gave a place to stay before they found their permanent place, and more recently and more extreme !!!

A mother who found herself in a position where she contacted me for foster care for her child. I shared the situation with Nellie and Marius when we distributed food,

That same evening they did what the rest of us are afraid of, it’s about a month later, boy is in a good place, Nellie’s words: I could not have asked for a better child, he rejoices our house, our hearts. ..

How do you explain that a child with “problems” that has been sent back and fort several times adapts that well?

All in the name of love …

people do care/mense gee om : What we do…

Ruth and Cenci (“the Chef”) does an amazing job on the streets of Pretoria North taking care of the homeless.  Everyday after work they start preparing meals for close to 200 people and then start doing their rounds at eight in the evening, dishing out food and attending to minor injuries.  Not only do they feed these people sleeping in the streets, they also find donations in all forms to clothe them, assist them with finding jobs, organise lifts to hospitals when needed, and even educate when the need arise.

Their ultimate goal is to find suitable space from where they can run a shelter offering these street people accommodation and meals they can return to after their day in the sun working as car guards, recyclers, and simply walking the streets trying to find employment.

This couple is not a registered NPO but simply do what they feel is the right thing to do.

The costs to cover the following most basic needs easily runs into R5000 to R10000 PER WEEK :

  • Food.
  • Electricity to prepare the food.
  • Fuel to distribute the food.
  • Medical supplies to attend to minor injuries.
  • A multitude of other expenses for example polystyrene containers to dish up in.

Ruth and Cenci does receive a fair amount of monetary donations every week from donors world-wide, and also a large amount of local food donations.  However, they still sponsor a large portion of these costs themselves.

And that is the reason we appeal to you for donations – 10 X R100 donations can cover the costs of their operation for one evening!

You are most welcome to follow their activities on their fb page at https://www.facebook.com/wheninneed/, and on their website at https://peopledocare.co.za/.

You may donate at any time.  Please deposit your donation directly in Ruth’s bank account:

Thank you!

See there, not only did they bring a huge bag of soy mince for us, (I mean really big), they also knew we did not feel like cooking and they were so right because I was hard packing clothes … is that not amazing.

I was just wondering what I’m going to cook for the kids, and here they bring an awesome ready cooked meal. If anyone ever wondered if God exists, just follow this page…

Thank you beautiful people.

The absolute highlight of the week !!!!

The absolute highlight of the week !!!!

Where do you start thanking people for such a love gesture?
Sarie Minnaar took in oupa Desmond without conditions …

I have honestly never met anyone who is so comfortable with people, this man is treated like a king for the first time, and he deserves it, for many years he worked very hard here in the North. After his stroke everything changed and he was forced into the street.

Yesterday we went  to pick up his last good stuff that he stores everywhere for safety – these old people are abused everywhere.

He borrowed a thousand rand on his SASSA last month as he did not receive his.  Even though two  ladies on the group donated almost the exact amount to him, he was so robbed … he has to pay back R450 every month until June’s, now that is bad, it’s almost double. I hope but his information is wrong.

This is a concern as it forces old people to keep borrowing to keep going, while they are getting so little already.

He also saved the rest of his money with the vegetable Tannie, got there, only to be told she only had R160 of the R1000 she “kept safe” for him ..

He puts his good walking stick and clothes in another place, and the little boy did not want to fetch it.

I had to cry when Grandpa Desmond said “no more 5 o clock” getting up and did not know where to go.

Yesterday he slept almost the whole day because for the first time in many years he was allowed.

No elderly person earn to spend their last years on a shop stoep to be chased and humiliated.

He was so so excited about the television yesterday, and he has to get used to the fact that his belongings are safe.

Sarie, your days will be blessed for what you did here, I’m convinced.

Thank you for all the donations, we were able to quickly set up his room without running around after bedspreads for bed and bedding, bedside table, TV etc.

Thank you, Lord, for sending this angel on our way.

Our Angel of the Day!

Our angel of the day !!!!
Santjie Fouche had to tire herself completely driving around for others today!

We searched for this morning for transport to Anna to her husband’s funeral, as the transport originally organised had to be cancelled due to car problems.

Santjie Fouche lives in Montana, but was already in Centurion, left from there, chased North, escorted Anna, assisted her at the funeral and brought her back to the North,

This remarkable woman simply decided not to give up when I said it was too late and too far … she simply decided to do what should be done, no doubt, without excuses.

Just imagine if we had more such leaders …
