Strong Collin needs a job.

Hi guys, Collin of Pretoria North is now an energetic boy for you, the guy told me seriously last night but he hears from other people they are called for work, but no one calls him … so let’s try again ..
He had already stripped a car in Wonderboom South, and the man was very satisfied.

Collin can strip cars, he is a good storeman, he can paint and do general handyman work.
Oh guys, any heavylifting (he is strong), whatever, call this strong man …

Johannes needs a job.

This very nice young man calls me aside last night and says he heard I’m finding work for people and he would like to work very much, guarding cars and collecting tins is not what he wants to do for the rest of his life … I asked him, okay what can you do, he says anything, he’ll do anything, paint, maintenance etc …

I ask him, but what’s in your heart, what work do you want to do …

He says madam, I want to prepare food, I can prepare food, I’ve been preparing food for three years at Knight Rider cafe before they closed that time …

It’s so sad, these guys on the street forget their passion, and are only willing to do anything for some money.

I feel so bad that I often overlook the quiet ones (the gems), I’ve known him for more than a year, and never knew he could cook ..

Now I want to ask, even if homeless people are not your passion, just reach out to one, you can change someone’s life, without costing you a cent, there is NOT a more amazing feeling than knowing that you had something to do with restoring one’s dignity, self proud, call it what you want  – and you were part because you showed interest,  you gave someone hope …

Employment gives hope.
Employment says I believe in you, I think you can, now you should think so too …

Come on, let’s help a nice guy out of the street..please share if you can not help yourself ..
Johannes

people do care/mense gee om : What we do…

Ruth and Cenci (“the Chef”) does an amazing job on the streets of Pretoria North taking care of the homeless.  Everyday after work they start preparing meals for close to 200 people and then start doing their rounds at eight in the evening, dishing out food and attending to minor injuries.  Not only do they feed these people sleeping in the streets, they also find donations in all forms to clothe them, assist them with finding jobs, organise lifts to hospitals when needed, and even educate when the need arise.

Their ultimate goal is to find suitable space from where they can run a shelter offering these street people accommodation and meals they can return to after their day in the sun working as car guards, recyclers, and simply walking the streets trying to find employment.

This couple is not a registered NPO but simply do what they feel is the right thing to do.

The costs to cover the following most basic needs easily runs into R5000 to R10000 PER WEEK :

  • Food.
  • Electricity to prepare the food.
  • Fuel to distribute the food.
  • Medical supplies to attend to minor injuries.
  • A multitude of other expenses for example polystyrene containers to dish up in.

Ruth and Cenci does receive a fair amount of monetary donations every week from donors world-wide, and also a large amount of local food donations.  However, they still sponsor a large portion of these costs themselves.

And that is the reason we appeal to you for donations – 10 X R100 donations can cover the costs of their operation for one evening!

You are most welcome to follow their activities on their fb page at https://www.facebook.com/wheninneed/, and on their website at https://peopledocare.co.za/.

You may donate at any time.  Please deposit your donation directly in Ruth’s bank account:

Attention people from Pretoria North!

Pretoria north …..
NOT ALL PEOPLE LOOKING LIKE BEGGARS AND ALL BEGGARS ARE STREET PEOPLE.

It came to my attention yesterday that many white men walk around and beg and many people simply assume that because they are drunk and look bad that they are street people.

I want to ask you, if these healthy young men beg from you, tell him where he can get food at night because they are always supposedly hungry – if he is on the street at night, he will get food, we have so many points around the area, he will find one close enough to him where he can get food, he can only ask. Unfortunately the chance is slim that he will come.

White people who are still on the street are very few.  We nowadays have food left where at times it was too little at times.

You do not have to support beggars with money and food as we already provide them with food. Instead, you need to help find jobs if you want to make a difference and not just moan on facebook. If you live in Pretoria North start acting and help us!

Care-groups of Pretoria North, stop dishing out food parcels for your needy families, rather find them work.  I know it means time and money, but guys, you do not help anyone providing lunch boxes every week.  During the day these guys walk and beg and then people say Ruth & Cenci draw them to the North! These guys stay in houses people, they have been in the North for a long time, we did not draw them here.

Divan needs work… (Divan has 12 years of experience in commercial and residential construction work)

Hi you, this young man wants to work very much, he is so neat, even though he sleeps on the street, the man also has heaps of experience going to waste on the street with piece jobs … can anyone give him an opportunity to get off  the street and to get on his feet, his whole life lies before him …

Divan has 12 years of experience in commercial and residential construction work, he was already sight agent and MD foreman, licensed and PDP (unfortunately expired)

And then he tells in detail that he can do everything and picks up his resume, and you can hear he has a passion for this …

He would prefer to stay in the north as he has contact with his minor child.

Three street people died in one week.

Three street people died in one week.

Billy, Peter, and last night this uncle …

He went to sleep and just did not wake up again, we still wanted to find a safe haven for him. This uncle was blind in one eye, always silent, never said a word …

And we still do not know what’s happening to Samantha after the ambulance came to her last week.

It’s not fair that people die without feeling how it feels to sleep in a warm bed with a full stomach …

Money needed for fuel – please help this mom if you can.

As you all know , we are trying to help the single mom with food, fridge etc. but especially work – they live in a wendy between Pretoria North & Orchards.

Usually we do not ask for financial donations, but the problem we are facing now is that mom can not attend interviews as far as montana because of lack of money for petrol. Collecting donations is also a problem as she has a car but not petrol money.

If anyone can and will help, here are all her details … thank you very much …

How do we do it?

People often ask how we do it because we do not like asking…

Here’s an example of how we do it: We actually do nothing …

The Lord is in charge, He takes care of angels like this to keep the pots full and keep us in the streets.  People donate and bring out of their own because they want to.

We are so grateful for every thing and every cent that keeps this project going, but I just have to mention that many people just join the page nowadays so they can see what is being donated, or what they can gain.

For that reason I no longer disclose any donation It was always so nice to say thank you to people on the page. Nowadays, if I thank a donor the donor receives messages for help or money or prayer – not cool,  people …

We need a job for a mother of three.

Due to circumstances beyond this mother of 3’s control, she was left to her own grace with three kiddies, they currently live in a Wendy between Pretoria North & Orchards. The children are attending school in Pretoria North.

There is already a benefactor who pays the R1500 rent of the Wendy.

Here is a big need of food, anything you can save, the baby was born recently.

In addition to the obvious needs here, we need to improve their standard of living.

Here is so much needed here that I do not even know what to ask. Certainly a fridge.

It was impossible to search for a job for her while she was pregnant but now we have to.

Previous experience includes childcare, caregiver, nursery school experience, rugby club and bar lady purchases, guys she will try anything, she is sharp, oldest is 15, 8, and three weeks …

So proud of these men

Andre has lifted himself out of his circumstances, he has been sleeping on the streets for a long time before he decided it’s enough and seriously started working as a car guard at Choppies, please support him.

We are happy to help them with donations because they try, they also make a plan to improve their own lives and collect their donations themselves and don’t wait for us since our car is broken down.

Our website

peopledocare.co.za is a brand new extension of the already popular and well-supported facebook group people do care/mense gee om.

We will share some of the stories told by Ruth and “the Chef” on this page. Some of the stories will have happy endings, some will have sad endings. Some stories will break your heart, some stories you may relate to. We wil have space where you can pledge and contribute in whichever way you wish and can afford. We also will have a section where you can look through all the details of persons in need of jobs – some may be limited to their know surroundings because of a lack of transport, other may be willing to re-locate anywhere in South Africa should employment include accommodation.
